Jim "Cap" Caplan serves as Chief Operating Officer for Environmental Dispute Resolution USA LLC.  Cap has over thirty years of experience managing environmental disputes while working for the U.S. Forest Service and as a consultant.  In his years with the Forest Service, Cap served as National Public Affairs Director, Supervisory Land Use Planner, Deputy Regional Forester, Regional Forester (acting), and Forest Supervisor.  He is the author of the listed publications.  He also served as Red Cross Director for a tri-county area in Oregon and taught environmental dispute resolution courses at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon.  He has degrees in Political Science and Community and Regional Planning from the University of Wyoming.
Cheryl Caplan serves as the Principal Associate for Environmental Dispute Resolution USA LLC.  Cheryl has over twenty years of experience in the area of public and legislative affairs for the U.S. Forest Service. She also worked for the World Forestry Center doing conservation and forestry education.  Her work portfolio includes facilitating groups, managing issues, communications and public involvement planning, crisis communications, and strengthening partnerships. Cheryl is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. She graduated from University of Washington with a degree in Forest Management.
